About DRAFT LINE Brewing Co.

Scott Palmieri and Scott Wood, owners of Draft Line Brewing, officially opened their doors in June of 2014. Located in a renovated warehouse in Historic downtown Fuquay-Varina, Draft Line offers several brews on tap including a Pale Ale, Porter, Scottish Ale, IPA, Wheat and Pilsner. In addition, they produce a small batch beer every Tuesday that features a unique flavor or style of beer.

The atmosphere at Draft Line is laid back and casual. There’s a large garage-style door that allows easy flow from the outdoor patio to the bar area. They feature a wide variety of weekly entertainment, such as live music, food trucks, run club, pig pickins’ and brewery tours, along with many special events regularly. In addition, cornhole and Ping Pong can be played inside the brewery.

Scott Palmieri, an engineer by trade, relocated to Holly Springs in the late ‘90s from Buffalo, New York. Scott Wood, a general contractor and Holly Springs native, built the house that Palmieri purchased. That led to a friendship that has now turned into a joint business venture.

Armed with a do it yourself attitude and a love for craft beer, they decided to go into the brewing business and open Draft Line Brewing in late 2013. The name Draft Line is a reference to the draft lines used in blueprints, which both Palmieri and Wood deal with regularly in their respective fields, and to the lines of people that form around a well crafted draft beer.

They have since perfected their own high-tech brewing system that allows brewing of up to 30 barrels (930 gallons) of beer at once. The automation equipment, which the Scotts designed and built by hand, allows precise control over both the brewing and fermentation process, while providing a system that they are able to modify and scale in-house.

Since their recent signing with distribution through Mutual Distributing Company of Raleigh, Draft Line Brewing is on their way to be a big player in the local markets. Maybe it’s that undefinable chemistry the Draft Line team shares — like when a band finds that magic sound people can’t get enough of. Maybe it’s their love of brewing or their knowledge of the craft. Whatever it is, it’s working. And with two award winning beers under their belt already, the critics seem to agree!
